Frequently Asked Questions
We can help with separation anxiety, noise phobias, reactivity or aggression toward people or other animals, litter-box issues, excessive vocalizing, and repetitive or compulsive behaviours such as over-grooming.
Yes. Pain is one of the most common causes of behaviour changes, but thyroid imbalances, neurological conditions, and sensory decline in older pets can also present this way. A behavioural consultation usually begins by ruling out or identifying underlying medical conditions.
We'll take a detailed history of the behaviour, including when it started, what triggers it, and what's already been tried, alongside a physical examination. From there, we'll create a plan covering potential causes, recommendations, and specific steps to work on at home.
Not always. If the behaviour is not caused by an underlying medical problem, many cases can improve with positive training methods, environmental adjustments, or supplements. When those approaches aren't enough on their own, medication can be a helpful tool for significant anxiety, reactivity, or compulsive behaviours and is generally used alongside a training plan rather than as a stand-alone treatment.
